Winter carnival / Fishing derby @ Lake George Park

Come on out for a fun filled family day at the park.

The lake George winter carnival, box sled derby, and ice fishing derby will be held on Saturday February 4th. Fishing derby registrations will be available on Friday the 3rd from 3-6pm at the boat launch on the east side and on Saturday February 4th starting at 5:30am. They will be available at both the boat launch and EAST side gate on Saturday Feb 4th. The price to enter the derby will be $10 per participant. The derby will run from 6am-3pm. All fish must be entered prior to the end of the contest at 3pm and must be caught by a registered participant. There will be 5 fish categories with prizes in each. Fish will be measured by LENGTH NOT WEIGHT. A thorough list of rules and prizes will be available at the time of registration for all participants.

On the parks WEST SIDE.......the box sled derby registration is at 10am, judging at 10:30, and races at 11am. All sleds must be constructed from cardboard. No skis, sleds, or runners may be attached. Tape is ok to use. This is a kids event and sleds should be built by the kids themselves with parental help when needed. Awards will be given in several categories which includes, but not limited to, most creative.

There will be a chili cook-off. The time will be announced later but should fall between 11am and noon. Chili should be in a container that can be heated directly over our wood fired grill. The Wesserunsett arts counsel will be doing snow sculptures. There will be warming fires outside with s’mores. The local Boy Scouts will have the warming hut full of great hot food, good friends, and most importantly HEAT!!!!! There are certainly activities for all ages to enjoy. PLEASE come out to enjoy this day with family and friends.The winter carnival is a free family event so let’s make it great......
