The Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Augusta School Department, will transport 180, 7th graders from Cony Middle School on a day-long tour of different Chamber member businesses to expose the students to all the great businesses that are right HERE in the Kennebec Valley!
Our short-term goal is to “spark” an interest in a future career and to “excite” each student about what exists for them in our community. Our long-term goal is to develop our region’s workforce and economy of the future.
Twelve businesses are participating in the event and offering experiential tours, the opportunity to meet and engage with employees, and the opportunity to learn about the business and the jobs available.
The 7th UP program was launched in 2018 by the Building Bridges program of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Bangor School District to introduce 300 7th grade students to the many career opportunities this region has to offer.
The Kennebec Valley Chamber is excited to bring this to Augusta in 2019 with plans to expand out to the whole region in 2020.
