Hall-Dale High School’s REM Delta Prime Robotics invites the public to join us for dinner at the Red Barn in Augusta from 4-6 PM on Tuesday, March 15th. This is a fundraiser for Delta Prime and another local team, the Iron Tigers from Gardiner. The Red Barn will donate a portion of the profits from the purchase of any menu item bought during the fundraiser to be shared by the two robotics teams. The Red Barn is in the business of building community, having served families and friends with a friendly dining experience in Augusta, Maine for almost 35 years. As a locally owned small business, giving back to their community is incredibly important to them. Both teams are grateful for the Red Barn’s support.

Both robotics teams are members of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), an international high school robotics competition that gives students real-world engineering experience. FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, with limited resources, and time limits, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, build a business model and team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get.
Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. While working on their robots, FIRST teams also give back to their community by spreading the message of FIRST: Inspiring young people to become leaders in science and technology. Participating robotics teams need to raise over $40,000 each year to enter and participate in the competitions, many
of which are out of state. To learn more visit the teams online at www.deltaprimerobotics.com or firstteam4041.com.
