What: Annual 5k Walk/Run to End Hunger in Kennebec and Somerset Counties

• Various representatives for local Hunger Organizations, including: Augusta Food Bank, and Bread of Life Ministries.

Information:

• We expect to have over 150 people participate in the event
• In 2016, this event raised over $25,000
• Maine State Credit Union is the largest fundraiser in the state of Maine for the Maine Credit Union League’s Ending Hunger Campaign
• In 2016, Maine State Credit Union raised over $80,000 for ending hunger
• This is an employee-based initiative with 100% of the proceeds raised going directly back into the Kennebec and Somerset community
• Proceeds benefit 30 local hunger organizations
• Food insecurity in Maine is a huge issue with over 15% of the population impacted, many young children
• For every dollar raised, hunger organizations are able to purchase 4 meals
• Employees raise funds through various events throughout the year – 5k Walk/Run, Bake Sales, and a Live Auction
