With over 30 years in business and locations in Oakland, Augusta, and Bath, our CPA firm offers income tax preparation services, small business consulting, on-site QuickBooks training, audits for non-profit organizations, and business bookkeeping services. We work with people and businesses across Maine. We have clients across dozens of industries some of which include: healthcare and dentistry, construction, non-profits, manufacturing, timber, fishing, and cannabis as well as countless other businesses and individuals. Our Tax, Audit, and Consulting divisions allow our clients to breathe easy knowing that their work is being handled by qualified professionals.

JOB SUMMARY: 

One River CPAs’ Tax Managers manage client relationships and fosters firm growth through marketing efforts. Our managers analyze and review financial data as well as prepare financial statements and reports for clients. They also provide resolutions to a diverse range of problems consistent with a thorough understanding of the US Tax Code. Tax Managers have the capability to direct and review the work of Senior Accountants and Accountants, and the capacity to make sound decisions on most accounting and tax matters. When unusual circumstances arise, they present the pertinent information to the Engagement Partner for their input and follow their advice accordingly. The Tax Manager is expected to exhibit initiative, responsibility and professionalism in performing critical duties, and in the achievement of ongoing professional growth through a commitment to lifelong learning.  Tax Managers are expected to participate in community affairs. 


One River CPAs is looking for an individual to fill the roll of Tax Manager that has excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. The ideal employee would be self-directed, organized, motivated, and have an attention to detail as well as an ability to multitask. Strong computer proficiency is needed especially with programs within Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with QuickBooks and other online accounting software is ideal. Candidates must:

  • Be eligible for work in the United States and must have reliable transportation.•
  • Have one to three years of experience in a similar position.
  • Have Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in accounting, finance or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
  • Have, be eligible to have, or actively working towards gaining their CPA license. Have prior supervisory experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibits professionalism, enthusiasm and respect in all interactions with clients and guests.
  • Directs and reviews the work of Staff & Sr Accountants, mentoring as appropriate.
  • Establishes and retains quality client relationships, including business development.
  • Represents the firm in a professional manner through ongoing involvement with community and charitable activities.
  • Demonstrates a command of knowledge and familiarity with pertinent IRC sections and regulations.
  • Demonstrates expertise in tax and accounting research techniques and a familiarity with the various research sources in the firm library and on the Internet.
  • Performs evaluation of Sr Accountants, managing their performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Assumes responsibility for the supervision of tax return preparation engagements as appropriate.
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises the various phases of Reporting or tax engagements.
  • Maintains current knowledge and achieves continued professional growth through an ongoing review of professional journals and publications, attendance at appropriate meetings and seminars and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Managers are expected to promote their expertise and are strongly encouraged to publish articles, public speak or teach.
