Interstate 95, the backbone of highway transportation in Maine, makes its way through the region allowing for easy, quick access to the rest of Maine and beyond. In addition, many other major highways converge in the Capital helping to make it a true center of commerce and travel.

The Kennebec Valley region is conveniently located within an hour’s drive away from Maine’s two largest cities, Portland and Bangor. Additionally, Boston is less than a three-hour drive. 

Public transportation in the capital area is provided by several taxi companies in the area along with the Kennebec Explorer which provides local public bus transportation. Concord Coach Lines Bus Company operates a major transportation hub in Augusta providing direct transport to Boston and New York City.

Cape Air provides scheduled flight service to Boston and beyond from the Augusta State Airport. Charter air service and flight instruction courses are available from Maine Instrument Flight.
