Whether you are in the mood for live music, an art show, or performing arts, you can find it in the Kennebec Valley.

Cultural opportunities within the Capital Area include Shakespearean plays performed at the Theater at Monmouth throughout the summer and concerts performed by the Kennebec Performing Arts and the Augusta Symphony Orchestra. Other venues for performing arts include Gaslight Theater in Hallowell, the University of Maine at Augusta, Johnson Hall in Gardiner, Snow Pond Center for the Arts in Sidney, and state of the art facilities at Cony High School and Winthrop High School. Two of the area’s historic theaters, the Colonial Theater in Augusta and Johnson Hall in Gardiner, are going under major renovations to preserve the history of the buildings and to become beacons for the arts in the region.
