Fayette was first settled as Starling Plantation in 1781 and became incorporated as the town of Fayette on February 28, 1795. It is a beautiful bedroom community located in the northwestern Kennebec County. We are approximately 19 miles NW of the state capital of Augusta and 10 miles E of Livermore Falls. We share some of the most beautiful lakes and ponds in central Maine with our bordering towns of Mount Vernon, Readfield and Wayne!
Fayette is known for its rural nature, seasonal resorts and private camps. Every summer Echo Lake comes alive as Camps Winnebago and Vega host hundreds of young boys and girls as they have for generations. Families come to their "camp" year after year to spend a day, a week or an entire summer at their summer home on the lake! Many have decided to make Fayette their permanent home.
Fishing on one of Fayette's 31.5 square miles of lakes and ponds draw anglers from all over. Hiking, snowmobiling and skiing are just a few among many sports to enjoy
