KVCOG Community/Economic Development Planner

Kennebec Valley Council of Governments (KVCOG) is a non-profit municipal services organization serving Kennebec, Somerset and western Waldo counties. KVCOG specializes in planning, economic and community development and business development. Its mission is to be a leader and catalyst for local and regional economic development and planning, supporting and expanding the capabilities of local government through regional collaboration and trust.

KVCOG seeks a Community and Economic Development Planner to provide analytical, administrative and specialized technical work in planning and directing a program of community and economic development within the Kennebec Valley region. The successful candidate should have experience with community and economic development programs and activities, grant writing and administration, development analysis and Revolving Loan Fund management.

Looking for motivated, well-organized, self-directed leader seeking an excellent opportunity. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to prioritize and work independently as well as in a team environment. Excellent PC, customer service and public speaking skills.

This is a full time exempt position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Some flexibility required for night and weekend meetings and events. Some travel required.

Job Requirements:
The candidate shall have a minimum of five years experience in community and/or economic development including significant independence of judgment and administrative responsibilities. Grant writing and administration is required. Experience with federal and state granting entities is required. The candidate shall possess a valid driver’s license. CDBG certification is preferred.

Education Requirements:
The candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree or higher level degree preferably with specialization in community planning and development, business, economics or a related field. Consideration may be given for several years’ experience in a related field.
