Harlow Gallery presents a two part workshop “Fast, Cheap and Easy: an Unorthodox Block Printing Primer”, lead by Scott Minzy. The printmaking workshop is 7-9pm on Tuesdays and is split into two 4-week sessions and is hosted by Harlow Gallery, located at 160 Water Street in Hallowell.
The first 4-week session is scheduled for February 7, 14, 21, and 28 and the second 4-week session is scheduled for March 7, 14, 21, and 28. Tuition per session is $50 for KVAA/Harlow Gallery members or $60 for non-members (paid to Harlow Gallery) plus a $25 supplies fee (paid directly to instructor on the day of the event.) Participants are welcome to sign up for one or both sessions.
Learn the technique behind creating bold and striking prints in a class suitable for all levels of experience. We will explore design principles of relief images, carving techniques, inking, and printing. Participants will have the experience of working with foam, rubber, wood and linoleum blocks learning the different qualities of each material. Most importantly this class will teach participants how to print at home without a press. These easily printed blocks make great postcards, propaganda posters, subversive illustrations and of course, fine art prints. Scottminzy.com
