“The Leadership Crisis: the Urgent Need to Develop Young Women as Future Leaders”

Joanne Crepeau Girl ScoutsJoanne Crepeau, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Maine, will discuss how the world is experiencing a crisis of leadership and the need for gender balance in positions of power. Joanne will also give insight into how the Girl Scouts is developing the pipeline of female leaders.

Joanne Crepeau is the Chief Executive Officer for the Girl Scouts of Maine and has held this position since September 2014. Prior to this, she served as the Interim Chief Executive Officer and began her career with Girl Scouts of Maine in 2003 as the Chief Financial Officer from 2003.

Ms. Crepeau leads a staff of 50 year round council employees who serve approximately 8,000 girls and 4,000 adult members, including volunteers, parents and donors, throughout the state of Maine. She has 40 years of experience in non-profit executive direction, strategic planning, financial management, and executive training.

She is committed to providing girls with a supportive, all-girl environment that allows them to foster friendships, develop confidence, achieve aspirations, and make a difference locally and globally.

"At Girl Scouts of Maine, we believe that girls can do anything. All they need is the encouragement to believe in the possibilities and that is where we come in," said Crepeau. "We will continue to provide those amazing opportunities that our members have come to expect and keep driving up the quality of our programming to ensure that Girl Scouts in Maine have every chance to grow strong."

Previously, Ms. Crepeau was Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Portland, Agency Relations Director, and the Finance and Administration Director for the United Way of Greater Portland, and an Investment Broker at A.G. Edwards & Sons.

Ms. Crepeau, a Girl Scout alumna, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Financial Analysis from St. Francis College, and achieved a Master of Science in Professional Accounting from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She has two adult children, and lives in Portland with her husband Mark and their dachshund Dash.
