Executive Director of Kennebec Valley Family Dentistry, Bonnie Vaughan, announces that the public is invited to attend its Open House and Ribbon Cutting on June 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to by June 8. KVFD will be assisted by representatives of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce. Formerly located at 269 Water Street, Augusta, since February 26, KVFD has served patients in its new location in the Ballard Center, Suite 420, 6 East Chestnut Street, Augusta.

Founded in 2008 as a 501(c)(3) safety net dental center, Kennebec Valley Family Dentistry has a mission to provide affordable, quality dental care for MaineCare, limited income, underinsured and uninsured children and adults, but they also accept most dental insurance. Its staff provide oral health education and preventive and restorative dental services, including extractions. It is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Patients are accepted from any geographic area around Augusta.  

Its renovated space at the Ballard Center, site of the old MaineGeneral Hospital, offers many advantages, including a more convenient location for its patients. Dr. Peter Guzzetti, Board Chair, said, “We had outgrown the capacity of our four operatories in our old space and expanded to eight, doubling our size. Since the move, we’re seeing 50 to 100 new patients a month.”

“Broad-based community support made this relocation possible,” said Vaughan, “and we appreciate the generosity of every donor. This event will give us an opportunity to recognize major contributors publicly.” Vaughan said that the lead sponsor, Delta Dental Plan of Maine, the Davis Family Foundation and the Betterment Fund were three early and large contributors showing their support of the dental center relocation/expansion project.
